Michigan authorities mum on drug-bust IDs

-A +A
The identity of an Auburn man arrested in Michigan on drug charges is not being released until after the state crime lab finishes tests on confiscated substances, a Calhoun County Sheriff Department spokesman said. The 30-year-old Auburn man and a 31-year-old male passenger from Desert Hot Springs were arrested after a speeding stop on Interstate 94 in Calhoun County. The Sheriff Department said a search yielded 14 pounds of bagged marijuana, plus prescription drugs and illegal steroids. Capt. Matthew Saxton said that the two ended up not being lodged in jail and a warrant would only be issued after tests are completed. Until a warrant is issued, Calhoun County authorities won’t release their names, he said. While Calhoun County isn’t releasing the two suspects’ names, Saxton did say that Justin Brockman, owner of Green Giant Hydroponics in Lotus, is not one of the suspects. The Desert Hot Springs man had told investigators that he was the owner of Green Giant Hydroponics in California. Brockman said last week that he has no knowledge of what the two were doing but does want to clarify he had no involvement and was in California at the time of the May 26 arrests. – Gus Thomson
