Shale Ridge Lane in Auburn was awash with hundreds of motorcycles lining the road, as more than 1,000 people came out in support of the grand opening for C & E Auburn V-Twin on Oct. 16. Community members and motorcycle enthusiasts alike showed their appreciation to the years of dedication and service to the area for the local business that has risen from the ashes of the 49 Fire. “I am just thrilled at the turnout for our event,” said Emma Lujan, co-owner of C & E Auburn V-Twin. “Our losses from the fire were so minimal compared to those who lost their homes. The battle to rebuild our motorcycle business often seemed impossible, but to have this kind of turnout is a tribute to everyone in the community of Auburn. Carlo (Lujan) and I are just so completely grateful and thankful. Today represented a new beginning for us.” The open house featured the world’s fastest stream-liner motorcycle with Chris Carr. Bob Grimes was signing autographs with his super fast drag bike. The crowd enjoyed a complimentary tri-tip barbecue luncheon, hosted by C & E for everyone who visited. Two local bands provided entertainment. ~ Staff report
