Mountain Mandarin Festival approaching

Get ready for something sweet — it’s Mountain Mandarin Festival time. Plans are underway for the 16th annual festival, which will be held Friday through Sunday at the Gold Country Fairgrounds in Auburn. The festival celebrates the new crop of locally grown mandarin oranges and features a mandarin recipe cooking contest, professional chef demonstrations, food, a pageant, a wine garden, crafts and activities, a free children’s area, live music and entertainment. Admission is $2 on Preview Friday, open noon to 5 p.m. The festival is open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday. Admission for Saturday and Sunday is $5 for everyone 16 and older, and $3 for seniors. Parking is $5.
