Authorities have released the name of the woman found dead in her Creekside Drive apartment on Monday. The Sacramento County Coroner's Office identified the deceased as Alice Murphy, 64, releasing the information on Wednesday morning. Meanwhile, detectives say that Murphy was murdered. “We are treating this as a homicide,” Officer Jason Browning, Folsom Police Department public information officer, told the Folsom Telegraph. Detectives believe someone entered Murphy's apartment, attacking her. Browning stated that the coroner still hasn't released the cause of death. Browning reported that on Monday morning, a friend of Murphy's stopped by the apartment, discovering the woman's body. The friend contacted a neighbor. “They called the Folsom Fire Department, who sent paramedics to the scene," Browning said. According to an earlier press release, it was reported that after discovering Murphy's body, paramedics noted “suspicious observations” and contacted police. Police observed that Murphy's injuries were consistent with those suffered during a physical assault. After getting a warrant, detectives searched Murphy's apartment, working late into the night, collecting evidence. Browning said that anyone with information regarding Murphy's death should notify the department at (916) 355-7230 or contact WeTip at 800-78-CRIME.
