Auburn residents have several options for Christmas tree recycling this year. Tree owners should first make sure to remove all decorations and lights, and then cut up, unflocked trees can be placed inside a homeowner’s green waste container. The container lid must still close normally, and will picked up on the normal day. Residents can also drop off their trees for free from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Dec. 26 through Jan. 15 at the Auburn Transfer Station located at 12305 Shale Ridge Road. For information, call (530) 885-3735. The Auburn Fire Department is planning to accept trees for chipping from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Jan. 8 at the Maidu Fire Station located at 901 Auburn-Folsom Road.
