Here’s a better idea (“Governor orders minimum wage for state workers,” Journal, July 2). Instead of cutting state workers’ pay to the minimum wage, the Legislators and statewide elected officials should all have their pay and benefits stopped. No per diem, no housing allowances, no perks at all. And no retroactive pay either. Both for them and their staffers, as well. Oh, and turn in your state cars and credit cards, too, boys and girls. Until the Legislature can pass a balanced budget on time, they don’t deserve the pay their tax-and-spend mentality is extorting from the citizens of California. Let’s see how you like it.
