No plea entered in case of coach charged with sexual abuse

Morgan’s next court date is March 21

Former Colfax High School coach Belden “Jack” Morgan did not enter a plea on a charge of sexual abuse at his second court appearance Wednesday. His lawyers from Matthew Bishop Law Firm, based in Napa, are still in the discovery process. An early status conference is scheduled for next Wednesday, March 21. Morgan, a former snowboard coach and computer science teacher at Colfax High School was arrested on Feb. 9 for alleged continuous sexual abuse, punishable by 15 years to life in prison. He last taught at the high school in 2004 and retired from his coaching position at Colfax High School last March, but remained active as Central II District Coordinator for the California Nevada Interscholastic Ski and Snowboard Federation. The status conference is scheduled for 8 a.m., March 21 in Dept. 43 at the Placer County Superior Court in Roseville. ~Sara Seyydin
