Welcome to the Auburn Journal’s “Noon Hour Update,” where we’ll present you with stories and updates on what’s going on in the news and what we’re working on for our Tuesday edition.

What we’re working on: Tuesday the Journal completes it five-part series on charter schools with a story comparing charter institutions to traditional public schools. If you’ve missed a part of the series, the latest installment is here.

The Auburn Planning Commission is meeting Tuesday and Reporter Jon Schultz will have a preview of the meeting that will discuss amending a number of ordinances involving transitional housing, emergency shelters and supporting housing.

In Sports, look for a preview on the Placer High School track and field team and an update on the high school basketball playoffs.

What you’re talking about: Our story about whether or not a Costco is coming to North Auburn has readers sharing their thoughts today, as does our piece on the failure of a proposed smoking ban in Auburn parks. Read these stories and more and share your views.
