Welcome to the Auburn Journal’s “Noon Hour Update,” where we’ll present you with stories and updates on what’s going on in the news and what we’re working on for our Tuesday edition.

What we’re working on:  The flu season is here and Reporter Gus Thomson is looking into how people and medical agencies are working to treat the sick and prevent illness.

The Auburn City Council is convening for the first time in 2013 Monday night and Reporter Jon Schultz will be on hand. One item of business is whether or not to ban food trucks near Placer High School.

The Placer School for the Adults has issued its new catalog of spring classes for 2013. Reporter Andrew Westrope is looking into what’s in the catalog and what’s popular.

What you’re talking about: In our Letters to the Editor section gun control continues to be a topic that readers are writing about and talking about. Read the letters “Gun ban could be dangerous” and “Tolerating weapons and media violence” and weigh in on the topic.
