Welcome to the Auburn Journal’s “Noon Hour Update,” where we’ll present you with stories and updates on what’s going on in the news and what we’re working on for our Tuesday edition.

What we’re working on:  A fire broke out in a home Saturday evening in the Auburn area. Reporter Gus Thomson is following up on the blaze, looking into how much damage was caused and the condition of residents. Gus will also have a story on the upcoming Special General Election that will take place on Jan. 8, 2013 for the State Senate 4th District seat.

Reporter Gloria Young is talking to area ski resorts about the early season, and if it’s been a positive one for resorts. She’ll also have coverage on another storm front that will be coming in this week and how it will benefit area resorts.

In Sports look for outdoor coverage and golf tips as well as a roundup of local high school sports from the weekend.

What you’re talking about:  Our story on donations for the Baby John Doe grave marker has readers commenting from the weekend, as does our Letter to the Editor, “Response distorts McClintock position.” Read these and more and share your thoughts.
