Welcome to the Auburn Journal’s “Noon Hour Update,” where we’ll present you with stories and updates on what’s going on in the news and what we’re working on for our Thursday edition.

What we’re working on: A man lost his life on Tuesday night after he collided with a truck while riding his motorcycle on Highway 49. Reporter Gus Thomson is following up on the crash and will have more on the incident, plus background about the man who died. Gus will also have a story on an ombudsman program for senior facilities that provides a voice for residents.

Sports Editor Matthew Kimel will have a feature about a person who could be a first for Auburn Little League – a female coach. Matthew speaks with the female coach about her experience and being able to coach her son and coach with her husband, who is the manager. Also look for coverage of Placer High School baseball.

What you’re talking about: The former Robbers Fire suspect not getting any new charges and being free has readers sharing their views on Wednesday. Our story on a local, Dr. Bill Kirby, retiring also has readers sharing their thoughts, and our piece about an owl being released back into the wild does too. Read these stories and much more and share your views.
