What we’re working on: The sight of picket lines near the Raley’s on Lincoln Way in Auburn looks to be a thing of the past as the grocery store chain and it’s union workers seemed to have agreed to a new contract. Reporter Gus Thomson has a story on the tentative agreement here. Gus is also reporting on the court appearance for an ex-parent teacher club president on charges of embezzlement from the club.

We’re continuing coverage of the death of two people at a Loomis care home after eating poisonous mushrooms late last week. Reporter Jon Schultz is reaching out to government officials and local purveyors of edible mushrooms and will have a report. Jon will also have an update on a man who was arrested for possessing meth and leading law enforcement on a high-speed chase.

The Mandarin Festival is coming to the Gold Country Fairgrounds this weekend. Keep an eye out for our special insert in the Journal on the festival and read Journal Features Editor Paul Cambra’s preview on the event.
