Welcome to the Auburn Journal’s “Noon Hour Update,” where we’ll present you with stories and updates on what’s going on in the news and what we’re working on for our Sunday print and online editions.

What we’re working on: With the Sacramento Kings possibly on their way to Seattle, the City of Sacramento is reaching out to its sister communities for help. Reporter Jon Schultz is working on a story on how the Auburn City Council received a resolution from Sacramento seeking the city’s support in keeping the Kings.

Reporter Gus Thomson was in Nevada County Thursday listening to the Rincon del Rio senior community development be presented to the planning commission for a second time. Gus will have a story on how the project, which borders Placer County, has now been forwarded on to the board of supervisors for Nevada County. Before you know it April 15 will be here, and taxes are due. Gus will have a story on tax tips and ways to file with a tax preparation piece.

The Newcastle Fire Protection District had its meeting on Thursday evening. Reporter Andrew Westrope will be looking into the items covered and where things stand with the fire station.

What you’re talking about: A pair of Letters to the Editor are our most read so far on Friday. The letters “Newcastle must grasp opportunity” and “Obamacare a socialist step” are receiving several comments. Read these letters and more and share your thoughts.
