Noon Hour Update: What's happening and what we're working on

-A +A

Welcome to the Auburn Journal's "Noon Hour Update," where we'll present you with stories and updates on what's going on in the news and what we're working on for our Sunday and Monday editions.

What we're working on: Yesterday a man was killed in the gated community of Lake of the Pines. Reporter Gus Thomson is working on a story about the man who lost his life. We're also following up on the Highway 49 wreck that resulted in one fatality, including identifying the driver who lost their life. See our update story here for the female driver's name.

Sara Seyydin's story on Americans with Disabilities Act requirements and how Assemblywoman Beth Gaines is trying to make it easier for businesses to comply is still on tap. Seyydin is also looking into a story on senior drivers and a new study that ranks California third in terms of traffic accident deaths involving seniors.

What you're talking about: Our stories on the vehicle wreck on Highway 49 and the Placer County Water Agency's 2 percent pay hike for employees has been drawing comments today. Read "Placer County Water Agency 2 percent pay hike first since 2009 " and "Five vehicles involved in fatal wreck on Highway 49 " and share your opinions.

Grappling for state: Local area high school wrestlers are in the hunt for a trip to the state wrestling tournament. Find out who's got their ticket punched in this weekend's sports section. Also, look for reporter Justin A. Lawson's short series of stories on sports concussions.
