WHAT WE’RE WORKING ON: The continued push for funds for the statue of Auburn World War II air ace Bud Anderson got a boost this week from the Auburn City Council. The city gave $10,000 from its Airport Enterprise Fund and Reporter Gus Thomson will have a story on the donation. At the Placer County Board of Supervisors today it was announced that Hidden Falls and two other county parks would soon be patrolled by a for-hire ranger service. Gus will have more details on this announcement.

In Food & Wine this week read about the search for some of the best burgers in Placer County, and what a panel of food enthusiasts thought about a chain restaurant’s efforts.

WHAT YOU’RE TALKING ABOUT: Our story about Paul Kovacich’s last-ditch effort to challenge his murder conviction has generated plenty of online conversation – so has our piece on the future of the Black & White Affaire. Read these two stories and much more and comment.
