Billy Janniro and his teammates from Northern California left little doubt about where the best speedway talent in the state resides Friday night at the Gold Country Fairgrounds. The North team crushed the South in the 20th annual North vs. South challenge at Fast Fridays despite some strong racing from the visiting riders. The North team, made up of Fast Fridays regulars, scored 96 points while the South scored just 40. Billy Janniro assumed his customary position atop the Fast Fridays podium with a victory in the A-Main event. Auburn’s Tommy Hedden finished a strong night of racing with a second place in the main event. The South team’s Jimmy Fishback was third and Tyson Burmeister was fourth in the main event. Auburn’s Bart Bast led another North sweep in the B-main event as he took first. Bryan Yarrow was second followed by southerners Buck Blair and Eddie Castro. The North strengthened its lead in the all-time series to 13-7 over the South. The South riders scored a minor victory when the youth riders scored 41 points to edge the North, with 31.
