Now is not the time for space exploration

-A +A
Seven years ago, in 1999, NASA launched the Stardust spacecraft into space. Finally, on Jan. 15, the Stardust spacecraft came plummeting down from orbit. Auburn residents got to observe this fantastic sight from their homes at approximately 2 a.m. Sunday morning. Everyone's concern is, how much money did this cost? This event cost $212 million. Also, every day we are spending billions of dollars on the war in Iraq. The money that is spent in one day for the war is more than the total amount of money spent on World War II. The real question is: Do we need to spend all this money on space exploration, when we are already spending billions of dollars a day? NASA is conducting so many new experiments and testing recent products. Is this really the time? Think about it, how many lives would this effect? Victoria Jordan Auburn
