Now we punish the prudent

Credit cards are just that, “credit” cards, not loan cards. If you don’t want to pay whatever interest a bank may charge then try doing it the old-fashioned way. Do without for a while. Save your money and pay cash. Do without? That’s just not fair – I want it now and I’ll pay later. Oops! I can’t afford it; guess I can’t make the payments. Maybe that’s why interest rates are high when borrowing on nothing more than your promise to repay – you think? Government can’t legislate smartness but it sure is showing it can regulate everything else. Before you know it we all will be paying monthly fees to pay for those who never repay what they owe. Reward the idiots and punish the prudent. That seems to be the new American way. DENNIS FRANK, Pilot Hill
