Obama friend of middle class

As I read the letters by Robert Moggridge (Reader Input, July 20) and Donna McCloskey, (July 22), I had to wonder if they are looking out for their own best interests. With Republicans trying to derail his every move, President Obama has signed into law health care reform, Wall Street reform, the Consumer Protection Act, the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act and credit card reform. Every one of Obama’s far-reaching accomplishments are precisely intended to help only one sector of our population: the middle class. Placer County is about 95 percent middle class and well over 50 percent registered Republican or Independent.  The only laws our former president passed were tax cuts for the rich and corporations. I’m almost certain that none of you are rich nor own mega-corporations. His other grand accomplishments included spending the surplus and bankrupting the treasury, shattering the record for the biggest annual deficit in history, setting the economical record for most private bankruptcies filed in any 12-month period and setting the all-time record for the biggest drop in the history of the stock market. I have had my disappointments with Obama, but overall he’s done more for the middle class than any president has in several decades. Larry S. DuBois, Loomis
