Body found just north of Salmon Falls Bridge Sunday
Officials have yet to identify the body of a woman who appears to be the victim of a homicide. The El Dorado County Sheriff's Office is investigating the death of a female whose body was discovered in a culvert just north of the Salmon Falls Bridge Sunday afternoon. The unidentified white female is believed to be in her late 30s to early 40s. Detectives are attempting to identify the victim by fingerprints. Officials took a set of fingerprints from the woman at the time she was discovered, however, they were not able to identify her. They are going to take another set of prints during the autopsy and re-run them through the Department of Justice and see if they can make an ID on this person, said Sgt. Brian Golmitz, spokesman for the El Dorado County Sheriff's Office. The cause of death is not obvious and will be hopefully determined by forensic autopsy. We are going to stick with it being a homicide until proven otherwise, Golmitz said Monday. A lot of information will be determined during the autopsy. The Sheriff's Office received the call around 12:30 p.m. Sunday from an individual who saw the victim's body off the side of the road. Detectives are following all leads to locate the suspect or suspects. Anybody with information regarding this incident should call the El Dorado County Sheriff's Office at (530) 621-6600.
