The creative minds of the Old Library Art Studios are having a party, and everybody’s invited. Toast 10 years of creativity with 11 current and former OLAS artists in residence during tonight’s Auburn Art Walk, which runs 6-9 p.m. at more than 30 locations between Downtown and Old Town Auburn. “We try really hard to provide an interesting venue so people will come,” said Paula Amerine, one of six current OLAS artists in residence. Stop by, enjoy a glass of wine and experience the old Carnegie-Library-turned-art-studio and the creations of Paula Amerine, Melissa Arnold, Beth Brooks, Kerry Clark, Thien Dao, Gerda Francesca, Deanna Marsh, Tommie Moeller, J. Randall Smith, Merridee Smith and Sandy Wythawai Starbird. Gerda Francesca can’t believe it’s already been 10 years since she and Sandy Wythawai Starbird founded the Old Library Art Studios, with the blessing of the city and PlacerArts. “It’s just been so fast,” Francesca said. “I was very attached to this building and thought, something can happen to this building for artists. I’m so happy that it worked.” Thien Dao had been an OLAS artist in residence for six years. “It’s a good home away from home,” she said. “I’ve felt blessed to be here. It’s a very peaceful place to work. When I come here I forget the time and I forget everything else.” Kerry Clark is an OLAS alumna—she spent six years as an artist in residence. “We all get along so well and we share ideas,” she said. “It’s just a warm place to work.” __________ Auburn Art Walk When: 6-9 p.m. tonight Where: Downtown and Old Town Auburn Information: Find maps and learn more at Old Library Art Studios 10-year celebration When: 6-9 p.m. tonight Where: 175 Almond St., Auburn
