Girl Scout adult volunteers showed up early Wednesday morning in North Auburn to receive this year’s “Cookie Drop” shipment of Girl Scout Cookies. Volunteers unloaded 3,875 cases of cookies in eight varieties from a semi-truck for collection later in the day by local Girl Scout Troops. “Most of the volunteers showed up at 8 a.m. to off-load the cookies from the truck,” said 49er Service Unit Cookie Manager Cami Kappos. The cookies were loaded into warehouse space donated by Lyon Real Estate, next to the company’s office on Highway 49, then volunteers staged the cookie orders for troop leaders to pick up throughout the day. Most of the cookies were pre-sold by Girl Scout Troops from Colfax to Grass Valley and Auburn to Loomis areas. “All the cookies will be gone by 4 this afternoon,” said Cookie Drop coordinator Bill Jackson. ~ Michael Kirby
