Our children held hostage

Shame on the Republican legislators for playing games with the children of this state. Shame on Sen. Ted Gaines for playing games with the children of Roseville. Gov. (Jerry) Brown is not asking to raise taxes. He is only asking the Republicans to allow the voters to decide whether to extend the current taxes at the same rate. Let the voters decide. Why is that so difficult for Republicans? Unless Sen. Gaines and a few other Republicans change their minds and allow voters to decide, Roseville schools will lose over $3 million. This will probably mean some combination of reducing programs, cutting salaries, asking teachers to buy more of their own supplies and/or layoffs. Stop holding our children hostage, Sen. Gaines and other Republican legislators, and allow voters to decide. Gary Miller, Roseville
