Our teachers undervalued

Teacher paychecks aren’t high enough because of the school budget problem. While some teachers are doing perfectly fine, others are either being laid off, or put on part-time. Another thing that isn’t very good is furlough days. Although they’re a great time for kids, teachers have to deal with the bad part of the break: not getting paid during that period. Although those breaks are fun to me, I believe that the government can’t not pay the schools so that they can pay the teachers. I know that we live in a very poor economy but still teachers have to live off of their salaries and their salaries are declining — the teachers that still have jobs, anyway. The economy and state policies don’t help, but still I believe that it isn’t all right. NOAH LaPERA, student, Auburn
