Party in the Park: Did we mention it’s free?
By: Kahl Muscott, district administrator, Auburn Recreation and Park District
In a summer of fun things to do, and a place (Auburn) where the phrase “stay-cation” actually equates to a great holiday, your Auburn Recreation District offers up yet another rousing evening at Party in the Park. This event, taking place Friday, June 18 at Regional Park, is true to word “party” in its title. Here are my five best reasons to visit Party in the Park this year: 1. It’s free to attend 2. Local service clubs will be offering up great food and cool beverages. The best part of this transaction is that the money raised will go to various local and charitable causes, including the Boy Scouts, Little League and several scholarships. 3. Country music legend Billy Joe Shaver is coming to entertain us. Apple I-Tunes has this to say about Billy Joe Shaver and his music: “It all started the day Waylon Jennings walked into a studio with a fistful of Billy Joe Shaver songs and a contract that guaranteed him full artistic control. The system was bucked and Outlaw Country was born. This is country music played with the freedom that rock ’n’ roll promised.” 4. This is a great family event, with bounce house entertainment available for the kids (for a fee) and music, community and food for all. 5. Did I mention that the event is FREE to attend? If you have more questions, please visit www.partyinthepark.net or call (530) 885-8461. Hope to see you there!
