Performing Arts Center unveils China trip fundraiser
By: Colin Berr, Journal Staff Writer
Aspiring travelers will have the opportunity to travel to China in September, through a program provided by The Auburn Placer Performing Arts Center. The trip serves as an educational opportunity for those who wish to learn more about China and as a fundraiser to help the Arts Center restore the state theater into a quality performing arts space. The trip, from Sept. 7 to Sept. 22, will take in Beijing, Xian, Shanghai, Suzhou, Guilin and Hong Kong. Special opportunities await the group along the way, such as a behind-the-scenes tour at the Shanghai Expo, a series of Chinese experts to speak exclusively to the group, and a private dinner at the American Club on the last night in Hong Kong. The cost is $3,695 per person, based on double occupancy and current exchange rates, and covers land cost, hotels, transport and most meals. Potential travelers need to confirm their participation well in advance to ensure time for visa processing and final itinerary details, organizers said.
