PHS baseball hold golf tournament, Sierra Scene, By Journal Sports Staff

The third annual Placer High Baseball Golf Tournament will be held Friday, Nov. 9 at The Ridge in Auburn. Registration will begin at 9 a.m., a putting contest will be held from 9 a.m. to 10:30 and the shotgun start will be at 11 a.m. Prizes will be awarded for hole in one, closest to the pin, longest drive and most accurate drive. The four-man scramble costs $100 per person and includes golf, cart, rangeballs, lunch, buffet dinner and the satisfaction of supporting local sports and America?s national pastime. A raffle and an auction will follow dinner. A quarter of all sponsorships and donations will be sent to the families of victims of the attack on America. The first annual Player?s Pizza Toys for Tots tournament is scheduled for Oct. 5-7 at Regional and Meadow Vista Parks. Entry requires a $135 team fee and both an unwrapped toy and a can of food from each player. The event is open to 20 men?s teams and 16 women?s teams. Each team is guaranteed three games. Run Through The Colors. On Sunday, Oct. 21 at 8:30 a.m., Nevada City will host the tenth annual 5k and 10k runs and 5k walk. The event takes place in the midst of the vivid red and yellow autumn colors for which the Gold Country town is well known. The event is sponsored by the Sierra Nevada Group of the Sierra Club and awards nationally acclaimed calendars as prizes to the top two finishers in each division. Registration begins at 7:30 a.m. on race day. Entry fee is $20 and there are discounts for runners under 18 and over 65. There is a $5 discount if you register by Oct. 13. The Golden Sierra boys basketball fundraiser will take place Oct. 7 at Black Oak Golf Course. The tournament is a 2-person scramble with two flights. Entry fee is $50 and includes the nine-hole tournament, a BBQ lunch and entry in the $1,000 prize fund. An additional round of golf can be played at a cost of $9.
