The way Natalie Pietromonaco is swinging the golf club lately, she might soon start drawing comparisons to Placer County?s most famous Natalie. Pietromonaco was one of the youngest competitors at the Bing Maloney Junior Championship last week, but she was dominant. The 12-year-old Auburn resident fired a 1-over-par 74 to win the 18-hole event by four strokes. Granite Bay native Natalie Gulbis is the most famous golfer to hail from Placer County. Pietromonaco has yet to finish the sixth grade, but even the LPGA star would admire her latest result. Pietromonaco?s round at Bing Maloney was the lowest of her career and her first win of the season in six tournaments, though she has finished second twice. She had three birdies, one bogey and one triple bogey in her winning round. Not only did Pietromonaco win the girls age 12-14 division, she out-shot all over the boys in her age group. After finishing up her year at Newcastle Charter School, Pietromonaco is set to compete in the First Tee Optimist National qualifier at Plumas Lake Golf Course. Her older brother Clark ? a standout freshman on Placer?s Sac-Joaquin Section Division III championship squad ? will also compete.
