Placer boys and girls speed past Lincoln on the track

The Placer High track and field teams swept past Lincoln Wednesday for their second win in three days. The Hillmen topped the Lincoln boys 83-53, setting a season-best in the 4x400 relay with Cameron Brown, Nick Kennedy, Ryan Dawson and Joe Mangino. Placer also took the 4x100 relay as James Hubbard anchored. Gama Gomez won the 1,600 meters in 4 minutes 52 seconds. Kennedy ran a 54.3 as Placer swept the 400 and Cameron Brown led a sweep in the 800 with a 2:05.8. Dawson won the 300 hurdles in 43.41. Lance Burton took the shot put with a toss of 44 feet, 4 inches. Isaiah Pineiro was a double winner, clearing 37-3 to win the triple jump and taking the high jump with a leap of 5-8. The Hillgals beat Lincoln 92-44 as Meghan Tucker won the 100 (12.88), 200 (27.28) and the long jump (16-7). Becky Matthews won the 100 hurdles (17.53) while Lea Fong took first in the 300 hurdles (54.09) and second in the 100. Daneille Fitts won the shot put (34-7) and was second in the discus. Becky Feis won the discus (101-1) and was second in the shot. Kerry McCullough took the triple jump (31-0) and Shelby Crider cleared 10-0 to win the pole vault. Matthews led a sweep in the high jump (4-10). In junior varsity action, the Placer boys lost despite wins in both hurdles events by Sam Queen. Adam Norcott won both the 100 and 200 while Johnny Capra set a PR in the discus at 111-4.
