It took an early 1-10 deficit before the Placer High girls volleyball team could get it going Wednesday night, but the team ended up defeating Forest Lake Christian in three straight games, 25-22, 25-14, 25-14. Placer coach Jennifer Wright said the slow start in the first game was just the result of a lot of mistakes, but the Hillgals turned it on after that. Junior Michaela Leonard had six kills and 10 digs, and Erin Ellner had five kills. Setter Gabby Orteza led the team in assists with 19 while senior defensive specialist Nicole Johnston came up with 18 digs. Placer is now 2-0 overall. The team will host Ponderosa tomorrow before heading to the Davis Fall Classic tournament on Saturday.
