Placer girls in top spots after first run in state competition

Placer High School’s girls ski team members are sitting in the top spots after the first run of the day in state championship competition today. Four of the team’s members rank in the top 10 after the first run on the giant slalom course in the California-Nevada Interscholastic Ski and Snowboard Federation Championships held at Mt. Shasta this week. Junior Karly Kenworthy is in first, senior Haley Meyer is in third, senior Paige Rothe is in fifth and sophomore Lanae Rothe is in the 10th spot. A second run on the giant slalom course is scheduled for later today. The Placer High girls ski team is looking to defend its state title. Four Placer High boys ski team members are also scheduled to compete today. Check back later for updated results. ~ Staff report
