Placer heads into break with big win

The Placer High girls basketball team caped off 2010 with a strong performance on the road Tuesday night, beating Union Mine 55-40.
Sophomore Kirstin Schauble led the Lady Hillmen with a game-high 17 points. Senior Marilyn Johnson had a superb all-around game with 14 points, 10 rebounds and four assists.
“We were actually pretty tired in the first half,” Placer coach Tony Camillucci said. “But we were able to isolate Marilyn in the post and she did a good job. We moved the ball around really well.”
Placer hit 13 of 19 foul shots on its way to improving to 5-7 on the season.

Bear River 55, Ponderosa 45 at Lake of the Pines — Jenn Meylor poured in 17 points and swiped four steals while Sarah Hagar grabbed 13 rebounds and passed out four assists for the Bruins on Monday night.
Sara Schell added 14 points and 13 boards.
and Lindsey Harter had eight points as Bear River improved to 7-3 on the season.
The Bruins will be back in action Wednesday at Yuba City.
