Placer High cross-country excels at Wolverine Invitational

The Placer High cross-country team just ran well at the Wolverine Invitational at Rosemont High in Sacramento on Saturday, Sept. 11. The team had a top ten finisher in every category for the 2.2 mile run. For the varsity boys, junior Christian Finkbeiner placed second out of 126 other runners with a time of 11 minutes 17 seconds. Cameron Brown came in sixth with a time of 12 minutes 2 seconds. Girls varsity was led by Christina Winters, finishing in sixth place in 14 minutes 19 seconds. Nine seconds behind Winters was Kristen Hiatt in seventh place at 14 minutes 28 seconds. Kirby Riecks came in 10th with a time of 14 minutes 46 seconds. Frosh/Soph boys Placer captured first place as a team. Freshman Zach Stelzer came in second in 11 minutes 50 seconds. Zach Stoll was third with a time of 12 minutes 19 seconds. In fourth place with a time of 12 minutes 27 seconds was Viktor Dorofeyev. Frosh/Soph girls The girls won first place as a team. The team was led by Macaylea Mitchell coming in first place in 13 minutes 47 seconds and Kailee Warren in second place with a time of 13 minutes 54 seconds. In fourth place overall was Ruth Braica in 14 minutes 33 seconds. Junior Varsity boys Issac Tripp got first place with a time of 13 minutes 5 seconds. Junior Varsity girls Abby Myrick came in first in 16 minutes 14 seconds. Placer’s next race will be Wednesday, Sept. 22 for the Pioneer Valley League meet at Renfree Park in Sacramento.
