On Saturday, Feb. 12, five eager and confident students from Placer High School came to Foothill Oaks Convalescent Home to do a jam session for our dad and husband for Valentine’s Day. My husband has been a lover and follower of the many talented musical stars who have performed in both jazz groups and big band musical renditions. The jazz quintet featuring bass, piano, drums, trumpet and trombone played some great pieces, especially “Satin Doll,” which is number one in my husband’s mind. This is just a thank you to acknowledge their talent and endeavor as they made a great impression on their audience. So “hats off” to Mr. David Lawrenson, the band teacher, and the superb jam session the quintet provided. PAT STEMMLER and the STEMMLER FAMILY, Auburn
