Hillmen make it four straight All-Sport Awards with six championship teams
Placer High is on top of the Pioneer Valley League again. The Hillmen took home the PVL’s All-Sport Award for a fourth straight year after winning league titles in six sports during the 2010-11 school year. Placer has won the All-Sport Award every year it’s competed in the PVL. The award goes to the school that scores the most points based on six points per league championships, five points for a second place finish, and so on. Placer, which scored a total of 72, scored the most points in fall, winter and spring seasons. Placer won league titles in boys and girls cross country, girls volleyball, boys and girls track and field and co-ed tennis. The Hillgals also won the PVL girls golf title, though the sport did not count toward the All-Sport Award as only four of the six PVL schools compete in girls golf. The Hillmen were runners-up in football, boys soccer, wrestling and boys golf. Bear River placed second in the All-Sport Award standings with 58 points, edging out Colfax with 57. Lincoln had 48, Center 45 and Foothill 35. Each school in the league won at least one championship banner.
