Placer picks up 70th straight Pioneer Valley League victory

Andrew Carducci scored a 6-3, 6-2 victory in No. 1 singles play and the Placer High School team earned its 70th straight Pioneer Valley League victory Tuesday with a 7-2 win at Bear River.

Robert Kuklica (6-3, 6-2) had a singles win for Placer and the Hillmen’s No. 1 boys team of Brendon Axelbaum and Troy Potter (6-1, 6-3) were also victorious.

In singles action on the girls side, Placer got wins from both No. 1 Lindsay Holden (6-3, 6-1) and Clare McInerney (6-3, 6-1). In No. 1 doubles play, Kirstin Schauble and Jessi Fry (6-3, 5-7, 10-5) earned a win for Placer (2-0 PVL).

A Placer mixed doubles team of Bean Becker and Elena Varela won 6-3, 6-2.

Bear River earned both of its victories in No. 2 doubles with teams of Garrett Kenes and Hayden Moole (4-6, 6-3, 12-10) and Kristen Dietrich and McKayle Miller (6-4, 6-4).

Placer hosts Center Wednesday in a battle of league unbeatens at 3:30 p.m.
