Placer prepares for Colfax

Julia Dorsey had 11 kills and four blocks and the Placer High volleyball team swept visiting El Dorado Monday night in a Pioneer Valley League makeup. The Hillgals (14-6, 9-1 PVL) won 25-22, 25-13, 25-22 in their last tuneup before tonight’s pivotal league showdown at undefeated Colfax. Kelsey Lardner finished with 14 assists and four digs, Michaela Leonard had six digs, four kills and two aces and Carly Fox added seven digs in the victory. Placer topped the Cougars 20-25, 25-23, 15-12 in JV action. The Hillgals also won the freshmen match 25-12, 25-11. Del Oro 3, Woodcreek 0 at Loomis — Aly Duffin had 12 kills and six aces and Bailey Humes finished with 10 assists and five aces as the Golden Eagles swept the Timberwolves 25-11, 25-17, 25-15 in Sierra Foothill League action. Hannah Oros added five kills and Kate Kessler had 10 digs for Del Oro, which improved to 24-3 overall and 8-1 in the SFL. The Eagles won the junior varsity match 25-14, 25-20 to improve to 14-3 overall and 8-1 in the SFL. The Del Oro freshmen (10-8, 5-4 SFL) held off Woodcreek 25-18, 20-25, 15-7. The Eagles travel to Nevada Union for a big match Wednesday.
