The Lady Hillmen suffered a 5-1 defeat Tuesday in Lincoln.

“We struggled on the mound,” said coach Aaron Rubio. “We struggled on the base paths.”

Kaelin Amrein started the game in the circle, but lasted only 2 1/3 innings after walking the bases loaded. Relief pitcher Amanda Geil then walked in two runners.

“We had five hits all day and Lincoln hit the ball pretty well,” Rubio said. “Not to take anything away from them, they hit the ball hard and hit it into the gaps. Their pitcher did a good job of keeping us off balance all day.”

Abbie Strickland and Geil had singles, Hailey Leggit beat out two bunts and Kaitlyn Rubio doubled.

Placer (5-12-1, 2-2) looks to rebound Thursday when it hosts Foothill.

The game will be the first one played with the team’s new scoreboard, which was donated by catcher Claire Hansen’s parents, Jim and Shelly.
