The Placer High girls and boys cross-country teams each finished in second place at the Del Oro High Invitational on Saturday. The Placer boys were narrowly beat out by El Dorado High varsity boys by one point, but the team placed way out in front of the Del Oro High boys, who finished third. For the 4000-meter run, the varsity boys were led by junior Christian Finkbeiner, who placed first with a time of 13:40. In second place was freshman Zach Stelzer with a time of 13:55. Cameron Brown finished in sixth place overall at 14:16 and senior Issac Tripp came in ninth with a time of 14:66. Sophomore Zach Stoll crossed the finish line at 14:28, which was good enough for 10th place. The Placer girls beat out the Sac-Joaquin defending champion Del Oro girls team by one point for second place. St. Francis High took first place overall. Freshman Mickaylea Mitchell finished in ninth place with a time of 16:04 and sophomore Kailee Warren came in 10th at 16:12. With a time of 16:38, junior Christina Winters placed 13th overall. Junior Kristen Hiatt came in 14th at 16:40 while senior Kirby Riecks finished 20th with a time of 17:01. Placer cross-country will run again on Wednesday at 3:30 p.m. at the Pioneer Valley League No. 2 meet at Colfax.
