Placer tennis blanks Foothill

The Placer High tennis team had no trouble with Foothill Thursday afternoon, thumping the Mustangs 9-0 to remain perfect in the Pioneer Valley League.
Steven Fraguglia and Blair Meyer made quick work of their singles opponents, as did Tina Hummell and Lindsey Holden.
Andrew Carducci and Andrew Dahlin teamed up for an easy doubles win. Derek Ikeda and Logan Thompson won in shutout sets.
Tawny Thompson and Romi Behovona pulled out a 5-7, 6-1, 10-8 win at No. 1 girls doubles. Bronte Haskins and Amy Classon added a 6-4, 6-2 win at No. 2.
In mixed doubles, Kyle Fontes and Jessie Fry posted a 6-2, 6-1 win.
Del Oro 7, Rocklin 2 at Rocklin — The Golden Eagles made it six straight wins to open Sierra Foothill League play with a big win over the Thunder.
Brett Bacharach had a shutout win at No. 1 singles. Paul Villa, Max Hennessey and Cyrus Mann also won in two sets.
In doubles action, Daniel Silva and Mitch Pingree won 6-2, 7-5. Taylor Butterfield and Kyle Borges had an easy win, as did Alex Sznaider and Gabriel Excurra.


Placer 3, Antelope 1 - The Hillmen stunned the second place team in the Capital Athletic League as Sam Bennett had a huge night with 17 kills and 16 aces.

Wyat Henson had 11 kills, eight digs and three aces. Josh Fitts added eight kills and seven aces while Collin Houston chipped in with 26 digs, eight kills and two aces. B.J. Sidhu tossed in 14 digs as Placer improved to 2-5 in the Capital League.

The Del Oro High golf team scorched Turkey Creek on Thursday, led by senior Austin Smotherman’s 1-under par 35, as the Golden Eagles shot 187 as a team.
Del Oro defeated Rocklin by 14 strokes to improve to 2-1 in the Sierra Foothill League. Johan Nargussi finished at even par. Justin Raskin and Louie Ure both shot 38s. Bobby Mullin fired a 40 and Ryan Takayama finished at 41 for the Eagles.
On Monday, Del Oro won the hotly contested Roclin Invitational at Sunset Whitney for the first time in 15 years. The Eagles shot 390 as a team and topped second place Jesuit by four strokes. Smotherman shot a 2-under-par 72 and was second individually.
Bear River 200, Center 283 at Lake of the Pines — The Bruins shot their season low as Cory Langseth finished at 1-under par 33 as they cruised at home.
Jake DePass and Aubrey Harwell both fired 37s. Austin Roundsaville had a 45 and Chris Lopez finished with a 48 for Bear River (3-1 PVL).
Forest Lake 247, Victory Christian 306 at Haggin Oaks — The Falcons improved to 2-1 in the Central Valley California League as Raymond Bae led the way with a 5-over par 41. Jeremy Lanz carded a 46, Michael Williamson shot a 50 and Kailey McClelland had a 54 for Forest Lake. Jake Reinhardt added a 56.
