In regard to Mr. Paul T. McDaniel’s June 9 letter to the editor: “Disgusted with big box talk.” I was born in California and I’ve always lived in California, but for some reason, here in my chosen home of Auburn, often times if I suggest what I think might be an improvement to our fair town, someone that disagrees can be counted on to say, “Go back to where you came from.” I’m a native son of California. I was born here; I have a right to be here. Some of us think that shortening the drive to Roseville to shop at Costco and Trader Joe’s would be an improvement, and it would help in your concern for noise, traffic and air quality. The new Auburn Home Depot has done that; less drive, less air pollution. I really don’t get the connection with crime. Let’s agree to disagree if we must; we’ll eventually get it all worked out. But please, no more “Go back where you came from.” Auburn’s my home and I am in favor of a Costco and a Trader Joe’s. Dan Tomich, Auburn
