Please respect veterans’ graves

My husband and I attended the Memorial Day service at the New Auburn Cemetery this morning (May 31, 2010), as we have for the past 26 years. Our son is buried in the military section. He was a Naval Midshipman when he was killed in 1983 at the age of 21 years. The service honored the many military men and women who are laid to rest there. Many people attended to pay homage. Upon arrival we were very upset to find the white flowered plant that we had placed on his grave was stolen — so disrespectful of those who have passed on. Who would stoop so low to steal from the cemetery? Seems now the cemetery needs to be patrolled. Jacquelyn Long, Auburn, mother of Christopher P. Long, who has passed on
