Post 84 drops out of Area 1 Tournament
After two consecutive losses, Auburn's Post 84 American Legion baseball team has ended its run in the Area 1 Tournament.
A 12-5 loss against the Fairfield Expos Wednesday night and another 7-2 loss against Fair Oaks Thursday afternoon dashed Post 84's hopes of an Area 1 title.
"We were outplayed, but we did play two very good teams," said Coach Larry Prewitt.
Shane Soria, center fielder for Post 84, said trouble started early in the game on Thursday when Fair Oaks scored three early on. Post 84 wouldn't be able to get some momentum until later in the game.
He added that the late start was not helped by the team's pitching.
"By the time we started scoring it was too late in the game and there was too much of a climb before the innings ran out," Soria said.
Last week, Post 84 secured the District 7 championship title over Roseville in two games with a 10-7 win and a 12-5 win.
Fair Oaks will play the loser of Thursday's Game 7 between the Red Bluff Bulls and the Redding Rattlers today at 12:30.
