Power’s gone to leader’s head

The president takes an oath that states, “I will faithfully execute the Office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States,” but today he states, “I have an obligation as president to do what I can without Congress.” Where did he dream up this obligation? He apparently believes that he is both having virtually unlimited authority or influence and having complete or unlimited knowledge, awareness, or understanding and that controlling is preferred over governing. Possibly on his next vacation he should do a little reading of the Constitution. He fails to see he lacks basic leadership skills necessary to work within the framework of our government. My prediction for 2012 is the president will soon demand that people bow to him before speaking. John T. Nightingale, Auburn
