Rain couldn’t dim parade

This year’s annual Festival of Lights Parade was entitled “Light in a Child’s Eye.” I went to the parade wondering, “What exactly does that mean?” Would there be a float of a giant kid’s head with a light shining out his eye? I found out that the name referred to the joy that the children got from watching Auburn’s great parade. This year it was on Dec. 4. My family arrived early in the day and placed our lawn chairs in front of the Auburn Drug Store in order to save our seats. We showed up around 5 p.m. and enjoyed the festivity of the event. There were people lined up four layers thick on the sidewalks. Even though it started to rain early on, people still stayed and took part in watching the parade. The rain did not dampen anybody’s spirit and fun. COLBY CARTRIGHT, student, Auburn
