Reader Input: Abortion leaves two victims

-A +A

I have read many articles that have been written on abortion … for and against it.
Here we are 40 years since Roe v. Wade came into being, a license for abortions to be performed, and millions of babies have died. It is beyond human comprehension that there should be cause for celebration. What is there to celebrate — that all these children have been killed needlessly?
Have we not come to understand that every time an abortion is performed that we have two victims…one dead and the other wounded for life.
The mother will always remember the day her baby died, and the birthdays, every year after. I know that this is true, because I have talked with mothers that have had abortions. The reality of knowing that God forgives, when you ask him, in a sense, clears the slate and is truly a victory. “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future,” Jeremiah 29:11.
What is there to celebrate …not 40 years of Roe v. Wade, but having women educated to the true definition of being in control of their bodies? First women should have self-esteem, self-control and that their bodies should be respected. They are not another person’s toy to be used for his pleasure.
If we would begin in our schools, churches and socially to build up young women spiritually and emotionally we would have a tremendously positive group of women. We would also have a great group of young men that would respect them as much as the women respect themselves.
