We claim to be a Christian nation, but our actions show otherwise. Our poverty and gun violence are what we are about. We display this outward self-righteousness, but on the inside, we suffer from obscene indifference. It’s easy to quote scripture, but action speaks louder than words.
To be like Jesus takes having empathy for others and denying ourselves for them. And, we cannot be a Christian society, when we follow capitalism. This system, teaches us materialism and self-aggrandizement at the expense of others.
You cannot be like Jesus, when you practice self-gratification at the altar of things! These “things” are anything other than people and nature. So, until we give up our love for toys and money, we will continue in our self-imposed decadence and hypocrisy.
