I was dismayed to read Rich Maye’s letter (“Facts won in ‘readers rumble,’” Reader Input, Jan. 8), claiming Gordon Ainsleigh’s superior reasoning in the gun control debate. The letter made me picture grown men high-fiving each other, using sports and gang terms (knock out and rumble) as if the gun control issue were just another Sunday afternoon football game.
Have we already lost touch with the deaths of 20 kindergartners? We need to put off claims of superiority until we have come together as a nation, set aside our egos, and constructed a plan to reduce violence in America.
