Reader Input: It will always be strong vs. weak

-A +A

It seems to me that there is not too much new in this world, because back around 440BC the Greek historian Thucydides, and author of the “History of the Peloponnesian War” made a statement that is as up to date as 2013.
“As the world goes, right is only in question between equals in power, while the strong do what they can and the weak suffer what they must.”
For people like me in their 80s and poor as church mice, these are words that sure do seem to fit where we are today.
Who, for instance will see to it that the president pays his fair share in taxes each of these next four years? He is a millionaire; will he hide his income tax returns like he hides everything else about this personal life?
Thucydides had it right about equals in power, I wonder, does that mean president will be truthful in his 1040 report?
