Since Sandy Hook, watching the news, reading Journal letters and conversations with colleagues on gun control, makes me question: Do gun control laws really do what those advocates of this violation of the Second Amendment say they will do?
Having spent much time in the UK during my 12-year residency in Munich, I asked an English friend if British gun laws really did control guns. He referred me to Scotland Yard reports:
“The homicide rate in England and Wales has averaged 52 percent higher since the outset of the 1968 gun control law and 15 percent higher since the outset of the 1997 handgun ban.”
Illegal actions of young London thugs have terrorized whole neighborhoods. Police had extreme difficulty gaining control.
Having lived in West Germany for 12 years where there was no habeas corpus, seeing our attorney rot in a Frankfurt jail for over a year without ever being charged with a crime makes me fear continual U.S. Government encroachment in our lives on the pretense of gun control.
